FIRST PRESENTATION, 2011
8th Mercosul Biennale, Porto Alegre, Brazil
Commissioned by: Bienal Mercosul Foundation
Special collaboration: Hipólito José da Costa Social Communication Museum

The film's plot is the starting point of the exhibition narrative, in which historical facts and fiction coexist. Using the curatorial and installation procedures of historical and anthropological museums, it is structured in two sections. The first section includes materials produced for the film. The second section references the history of the actual place where the exhibition is displayed. The narrative of the exhibition changes depending on its location, historical research and social dynamics of that particular area.
The first section presents general information on the “dance poison” phenomenon as narrated in the film and includes a book, a hand-painted large-scale banner, and a film segment produced for the movie Dance Poison (vodoo ritual).

The second section, specifically created for Porto Alegre, includes text and photographs that provide a narrative linking fictional facts with historical events relevant to Porto Alegre’s history. Eighteen publications were produced and displayed in this section, most of which are fictitious designed to create a believable narrative.
